A Message from Our President, Myra J. Nikitas

Mar. 21, 2022

Happy Spring!

I trust this message finds you all happy, healthy, and open minded about the months ahead. I am hopeful that the challenges we have faced in the last two years are behind us as we move forward to brighter days.  On behalf of our Board of Trustees and myself, we thank you all for your continued support and dedication to our profession of dental hygiene, and the population we serve.

We, as a profession, are one voice, and together we have overcome many challenges that we faced head-on dealing with the pandemic. I am grateful for all of you! Please remember that ADHA is the only national professional organization representing the interests of dental hygienists, and the NHDHA is the only one at the state level… and every one of you makes a difference! Your membership opens the doors to many opportunities for professional growth and recognition, and it also gives you the resources to help you make the most of your professional future.

We are proud of our long-term relationship with our lobbyist, Susan Paschell of the Dupont Group. Over recent weeks, you have received communications from us, relative to legislation on issues impacting our profession and our patients. Your membership promotes continued advocacy for professional advancement, as well as improved health for the population we serve.

Like other organizations faced with the responsibility of providing continuing education, we have moved to more online CE events. However, we held our Spring Symposium “live” at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, and we hit the upper limit of the allowed registrations. Thank you to LeaAnne Haney and Christa Keddie of Northeast Delta Dental for their presentation, and to all our sponsors. Plans are underway to hold our Fall Symposium in October, also at the Derryfield, and we are working to provide smaller CE sessions between now and October.

We are also participating in a Dental Workforce Coalition which is analyzing and exploring how best to address current workforce needs in dental practices in NH. We appreciate being invited to participate by Tom Raffio, CEO of Northeast Delta Dental.

A big thank-you to all of you who responded to our recent survey regarding our profession here in New Hampshire. The response was overwhelming, more so when the length of the survey is considered. By the time you receive this newsletter, the results of the survey will be available to you.

Finally, please consider chatting with a member of the NHDHA Board of Trustees relative to joining our Board. If you are interested in learning more, drop us a note at mailto:[email protected].

Thank you for your continued support of our profession, our patients, and our association.
